Discover Ton Tann Market: nightlife, food and shopping in Khon Kaen
The truth is that we were a little tired of visiting a nearby national park when we decided to come to this Ton Tann Market in Khon Kaen.
Ton Tann Market, located in Khon Kaen in northeastern Thailand, is a vibrant evening destination where food, shopping, and local atmosphere combine to offer a unique experience. It's one of the most popular markets in the area, ideal for strolling, dining, and discovering local life.
Once we got out of the car, the smells began to call us toward the food stalls, which was what we were primarily looking for on this visit.
The market is located on Mittraphap Street, in the central district of Nai Mueang, Khon Kaen City.
It is easily accessible by car, motorbike or taxi from the city centre.
It is recommended to arrive at sunset to take advantage of both the food stalls and the energy of the place when the lights come on and visitors arrive.
Main activities: street, food, shopping and entertainment
- Street food stallsYou'll find a wide variety of local and isaan dishes, such as kebabs, papaya salads, grilled meats, sweets, and refreshing drinks.
- Shopping areaClothing, accessories, gadgets, handcrafted items and souvenirs; many casual design shops join the night market.
- Entertainment and atmosphereThe market features stages where live musical performances take place, areas to watch sports on a big screen, and ample spaces to sit and enjoy the atmosphere.
- Environment for families and groupsThere are rest areas, good parking and services adapted for those who wish to spend a more complete afternoon and evening.
Family and gastronomic atmosphere
You'll be amazed at the number of narrow streets and street stalls selling clothing, gifts, and decorations we found before reaching the food court. There are also lovely areas to sit and listen to a band perform, watch a soccer game on a giant screen, or rest your feet under a tree.

There are lots of people walking around and enjoying themselves, which brings a lot of life and joy, but since it's a permanent, daily market, it has an order and aesthetic structure closer to our European mentality than other typical Asian food markets.
As for food, if you like sushi, look for the stand there because it's always full and very tasty, especially if you've spent the day walking.

The "Mango sticky rice" dessert is delicious, and there are countless stalls that don't actually have food, but rather ingredients that are used to make the dishes we see in the photos.
Clothing stands and personal care areas
The market stands out for its modern decor, neon lighting, and mix of traditional and contemporary elements.
The best time to visit is from 5:00-6:00 pm onwards, when the food area starts to get busy and the atmosphere becomes more lively.
During the rainy season there may be changes or adjustments to the organization of the outdoor market, so it is advisable to check before going.
After a busy day of getting around the area, there was only one perfect place to satisfy my senses and my hunger, and it was this beautiful, family-friendly market.

Ton Tann Market is a must-see during a visit to Khon Kaen: it brings together the best of street food, local commerce, entertainment and the city's dynamic atmosphere.
I invite you to spend an afternoon or evening exploring it, trying various dishes, discovering corner after corner, and immersing yourself in the friendly bustle of nightlife in northeastern Thailand.
